Now for the weakest link, the gameplay. It starts out trying to trick you into thinking its slightly more complex than it is, saying you can block, power attack, block, and use combos with different styles.

The truth is that you should just spam one style and just keep using that except for the few enemies which are immune to certain attacks. The enemies are easily stunlocked, way too easily. Still, I loved the game, and it was definitely worth the price. It just means the game will take up less storage. The gameplay is surprisingly fluid, and the plot is mind boggling. The only thing that truly sadens be about this great game is its length. I beat the main storyline in about 15 hours thinking that once I beat the main story, I could go back and do all the extras I missed.

Anyways, overall this was a super great game, and I absolutely love it. I just wish there was more. Maybe a sequel? Definately worth the ten bucks easily. Great job developers. The whole game, like Mass Effeckt. The combat in it is pretty good if you play it strategically.

Try it with a joystick xbox or compatible dual analog stick. It is a mixed rpg action title, so if you aren't into the rpg genre it might not suit you, though the styles and action should be a draw to most players. It really expands in the chapters after the first chapter as well so it should have enough to be challenging to you. The first chapter just sets up the foundation for the story which is involved and I thought very good but you'll have to see it through over about 40 hours of gameplay roughly to find out what happens.

It does get really good. I liked the story and in particular thought it had a very good ending. The combat I found very slow to ramp up at first but does improve quite a bit as you improve your character over time. If Dragon Age is a yardstick you use to define quality in RPGs since that time it is worth remembering that this game predates that and also as you've seen is very different from it.

As far as having a good story, it does and the combat does open up and get better with time. I enjoyed this game myself although it certainly shows its console roots in its interface and in its gameplay at times which for a long time PC player like myself was a noticeable thing.

On that note, some might call this game streamlined, simplified or even dumbed down from traditional RPG fare and it is depending on what games you want to compare it to. It just depends on how you want to look at the game. It does simplify character development. Combat is relatively simple. There is no loot to speak of and no equipment upgrades to speak of and these things may be seen as serious shortcomings to some. What it does have to offer though is a world that is a nice change of pace from the usual fantasy settings and a good story to tell and again the gameplay becomes a little more fun as your character develops.

The game looks dated on the PC, but it offers people a different kind of adventure, one not centered on first person shooting or real time strategy. The controls are fairly decent and simple, but the camera is just terrible.
