It's obvious that the people making the decisions are so out of touch with the realities of being in a classroom day to day.
Under the current superintendent, there is a culture of nepotism Pros Students. Cons Work-life balance, appreciation, respect, nepotism, pay. Enjoyed helping the students because they are in a critical learning point in their lives. A typical day at Guilford county would be working uncertain hours with definite uncertain pay, constant changes without warning or employee input. Job postings put up at short notice, which gave an employee the feeling that - the company wanted you to stay in the same position without moving up in the company.
I learned that if I wanted to advance in the company I would have to leave and go to another company to be advanced in the same type of work. The hardest part of the job staying when I knew that there was favoritism within the system. Pros None really. Cons Short notice on changes, no advances or options of dual positions to fulfill a complete eight hour day.
Working at GCS is rewarding. Benefits are good. They do not respect you as an employee even though they say they do. We do it for the kids. Teach the future leaders. The teachers and staff were very friendly and gave a lot of good insight on how to be effective as a substitute.

Listen to their concerns pay them more for the work being done give more support across the board. Pros Some holidays off. Cons Inconsistency across the board. Supportive teachers and staff. I left everyday exhausted and stressed. I did not feel that I had the time to do my job adequately. Pros Staff. Cons stress and no breaks. Working with kids is the best part of my job. The pay is below average, the school you work with depends on your happiness. The kids will brighten up your day everyday regardless of how you feel. Pros Working with kids. Cons pay, co-worker drama.
The students. It was a good place to work. Teacher shared their lessons and technique. Student were geraly very good and worked good together, All in all if was a good experience.
School bus driving is an ok job if you are in college getting a degree. But once you get the degree It's best to leave.
