We have been very aggravated about the permit situation. I guess my husband and I left it up to the contractor to take care of permits because he knows more than we do.

Most of the permit hassles are over with at this point. Unfortunately, for some reason he did not include our replacement windows and sliding door for the adjacent and open concept dining room on our kitchen permit. So after asking us repeatedly over the last few weeks whether we wanted to get a permit for these windows, our contractor finally had our project manager go to the permit office today, to add the new windows.

We are concerned about the added price but we wanted to cover ourselves. Our kitchen is about square feet- we also remodeled the adjoining small laundry and powder room. Not sure why that couldn't be included in our whole kitchen remodel permit.

Obviously we are paying all these permit fees. In retrospect we should have demanded to see the permit ourselves before demolition took place. At this point we have cabinets installed and counters are supposed to be installed next week.

So we at least have visible hope now, as opposed to our permit limbo after demo where nothing physical happened for weeks.
