When is supafest 2018
Supafest had an ambitious schedule, which intended to cross the country and visit four cities in successive days starting April 25 in Perth. The itinerary would have clocked up more than 7, kilometers with four stops in as many days.
And, incredibly, the final three dates -- Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane -- would have gone head-to-head in those markets with its rival hip hop fest, Movement. The event took a hammering on social networks when its four-date event went ahead last April without the previously-announced bookings P Diddy, Missy Elliot and Rick Ross. Supafest denied those claims. PaperChase reportedly went into receivership last year.
Live Nation was behind Movement, which canceled its inaugural fest on Thursday with no talk of alternative dates. Search term. Billboard Pro Subscribe Sign In. In what many fans and industry insiders are condemning as a dodgy move, Supafest 4 is on at the same time as fellow urban music festival Movement.
Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney are hosting both Supafest 4 and Movement on the same days, which is the equivalent of telling punters they have to choose between their BFFs. I'd call this "poor form", as those who would attend Movement are also likely to want to go to Supafest 4, and in the urban music festival scarce market in Australia, aren't we all urban allies?
These festivals need to support each other for the good of the game! Silly billies. There's a presale on today until midnight for Supafest 4, and general tickets go on sale at midday tomorrow 12 March. Advertise with Eventfinda. From designer brand name-dropping on Same Damn Time to drawling mixtape cuts like Wicked, Future covers plenty of territory, also inviting surprise guest Gunna back on stage after his set earlier that afternoon.
But it felt too soon to tour Rae Sremmurd and YG again. At a time when the local hip-hop scene is gaining so much global traction, the line-up could have benefited from a few more homegrown acts instead. Back too soon? Rae Sremmurd were a last minute line-up replacement for Rolling Stone in Sydney, following a tour just a fortnight ago.
